Your Privacy Choices

Your rights over your data under the privacy laws of California and other U.S. states — and the plain fact that your personal information is never sold or shared for advertising.

Do not sell or share

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not profile you for decisions with legal or similar effects. There is therefore no sale or share to opt out of. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is honoured twice over: there is no sale or share it could stop, and the site stops measuring your visits — no identifier is made and nothing is sent.

The site measures its own use — the pages opened and the controls pressed, each by a fixed name, never by its words or anything typed; the features used, as outcomes. The switch under this page turns that off for this browser, at once; it is the same switch as Settings → Help us improve in the product, and the same answer as the card visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see before anything is measured. When you are signed in, which features your account used — the feature and the moment, never its content — is also kept by your ELAV8 account as part of running the service; this switch does not stop that (the Privacy Policy says what it holds).

Your rights

  • To know what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of it in a usable form.
  • To correct it.
  • To delete it — including every recording under your account, which you can also do yourself from your history, and the link between your account and the record of how you used the product.
  • To limit the use of sensitive personal information: the kinds we hold — a face or a voice kept by a choice, the contents of a connected account read for a question, the access tokens of those connections, and whatever a conversation’s transcript keeps — are each used only for the purpose you gave them for and nothing else, so there is no other use to limit; each is yours to remove, and the recording of a conversation is under the host’s control.
  • Not to be treated differently for exercising a right.

To exercise a right, write to [email protected] from the e-mail address of your ELAV8 account, or ask through an authorised agent with proof of their authority. We verify the request against the account and confirm when it is done. There is no fee.

What we collect, in the law’s categories

Identifiers
An account identifier, your name and picture from the sign-in; a random identifier for your browser, linked to your account when you sign in (the Cookie Policy says how long it lasts); an anonymous count of trials per network connection, kept for a day.
Audio and its record
Your speech, transcribed as it streams and not kept as sound; the transcript, slides and notes made from it, kept for the host’s account; a voice sample you record on purpose for a film, kept until you delete it or three years after its last use.
Biometric information
A picture of a face kept as a team face or a cast photo, and a voice sample for a film — each by the choice the Privacy Policy describes, used to picture or voice that person in what the product makes and never to recognise or find anyone; kept three years after last use or until removed.
Network region
The state or country code our network provider derives from a connection’s network address, read at one moment only — when a host’s camera snapshot would be taken — to skip a person in a place with its own law on consent to a likeness or whose place cannot be told; it is not precise location, and it is not kept with any record of the meeting (the meeting’s record keeps the seat, never the region).
Contents of connected accounts and their keys
When you connect a mailbox, a workspace or a server of your own, an encrypted access token, kept until you disconnect; the matching parts of that account are read for the moment of your question and not kept.
Commercial information
Your plan, the minutes used, the blocks and film credit bought, your team’s seats; payment details are held by ELAV8, not by us.
Internet activity
Codes and counts in our logs; the pages of this site you open, the site that sent you and the buttons you press to start, sign in, resume or download, under a random identifier; no browsing history elsewhere, no tracking across sites.
Inferences
Only which features of the product you have and have not used, from the controls you press and the outcomes recorded (a lesson, a quiz, a game, a share) — to see what is used and to choose which product tip, if any, to show you in the app or, once you have had the chance to say no, to send you by e-mail (at most one a week; the Privacy Policy’s “Tips by e-mail” row says how). The product infers what belongs on a slide from what is said; it builds no other profile of you and infers nothing from a learner.

The Privacy Policy says where each of these comes from, who processes it and for how long it is kept.

Help us improve

We count which buttons and features are used — never what is said or written. Nothing goes to anyone else. Not measuring in this browser.
