Just Say It vs Zoom AI Companion
Zoom and Just Say It, side by side: what each makes, when it works, and what it costs — Zoom’s facts from its own pages, read 2026-09-26.
The short answer
Choose Zoom when your meetings already run on Zoom and you want its summaries, answers during the call and notes where you meet — with ZoomMate to turn them into follow-ups and documents. Choose Just Say It when the meeting should have a screen that builds itself as people talk — the figures as charts, the faces, the maps — with the notes kept.
Side by side
| Compared on | Zoom | Just Say It |
|---|---|---|
| What it makes | Meeting summaries, answers to questions during the meeting, and notes; with the ZoomMate add-on, follow-ups, documents and slide decks drafted from what was said (ZoomMate). | The screen everyone in the room sees, built as people talk: the point as a headline, figures as charts, faces, maps, lists and whole stages — and the notes. |
| When it works | During the meeting — questions and notes — and after it: the summary, and ZoomMate’s follow-up work (Zoom). | During the conversation, as each sentence is said. |
| What you give it | The Zoom meeting itself; its notetaker also works in other meeting apps and in person. | The conversation itself — people talking in the browser. Nothing to prepare or upload. |
| Meetings and rooms | Zoom’s own meetings: 40 minutes and 100 people on the free plan, 30 hours on Pro, 300 people on Business (pricing). | Its own rooms in the browser, with camera, microphone and screen share: one guest on Free, six on Pro, thirty on Team. It does not join other meeting apps. |
| Notes | Meeting summaries, and My Notes — a personal AI notetaker for Zoom, other meeting apps and in-person conversations — unlimited on Pro, three uses a month free. | Kept as the conversation goes, one page per topic, on the screen when anyone asks; every conversation kept as a replay, a deck and its notes. |
| Earlier meetings | AI queries and search across your meetings on Workplace Pro; ZoomMate keeps context across your work. | Answers what was decided in earlier conversations — only ones the people in the room took part in. |
| Paid plans | Zoom Workplace Pro $14.16 a user a month billed annually, with unlimited meeting summaries; Business $18.33; ZoomMate, its AI add-on, is priced separately — $16.67 a user a month billed annually (pricing, ZoomMate pricing). | Pro $19 a month, or $15 billed yearly; Team $29 a month, or $25 billed yearly (pricing). |
| Free to start | Yes — Zoom Workplace Basic, with 40-minute meetings; its pricing page lists meeting summaries for three hosted meetings a month (pricing). | Yes — 10 minutes with no account and no card, then 90 minutes a month with a free account (pricing). |
Where Zoom is better
- It is the meeting app many teams already use, with the AI built in — nothing new for anyone to join.
- Meetings of up to 30 hours on Pro, and 300 people on Business.
- ZoomMate turns a meeting into follow-up work — scheduling, records, documents and decks — across tools such as Salesforce, Jira and Slack.
- A notetaker that works in other meeting apps and in person, too.
- Live audio translation of meetings with ZoomMate.
- Questions and answers during the meeting in more than 30 languages.
Where Just Say It is different
- Everyone in the meeting sees the conversation take shape on one screen — the point, the figures as charts, the faces, the maps — while people speak.
- The notes are kept for the room, one page per topic, and anyone can ask for them out loud.
- It runs in any current desktop browser, with nothing to install and no workspace to set up first.
Using both
Zoom for the meetings your team already holds there; Just Say It when a conversation needs a shared screen that keeps up with it — a pitch, a lesson, a planning session.
Questions
- Is Zoom AI Companion still called that?
- No. Zoom retired the AI Companion name in 2026: its meeting summaries, questions during the meeting and notes are built into Zoom Workplace under their own names, included with eligible paid plans, and ZoomMate is Zoom’s new AI add-on.
- Does Just Say It work inside Zoom?
- Not yet. Just Say It is its own room in the browser, with camera, microphone and screen share; its co-presenter can also join a Google Meet or Microsoft Teams meeting as a participant on a Pro or Team plan, and Zoom is built and waits on that platform’s review.
- Can Zoom make slides from a meeting?
- ZoomMate can draft a slide deck from what was discussed, after the meeting. Just Say It builds the screen everyone sees during the meeting itself, as people talk.
